Transgender Stories

Our goal this semester has been to increase the college's understanding of transgendered people. We're doing this because we've seen a deep lack of understanding, both in ourselves, and in the wider community. People we've talked to here at Greenville often have little or no idea of what it means to be trans, and some have expressed disgust or discomfort at the thought. Since Christians are called to love people, and especially the marginalized, this ignorance and prejudice is problematic. Trans people are human beings, just like any of our other neighbors, but they've experienced discrimination and alienation in the culture at large, and, unfortunately, in the church. We believe that their marginalization gives the church even more reason to care for them. Our thesis states, "The Christian community associated with Greenville College suffers from an impoverished understanding of transgendered persons. By learning from transgendered persons and sharing our newfound experiences with the college through film and discussion, we hope to undo stereotypes, prevent objectification, and lay the groundwork for more loving relationships between these two groups."

I used Sony Vegas Studio 6.0 (which I have owned for about eight years now?) to edit this video, and even though it said it was rendering in 720p (which is the highest it can apparently go), it still uploaded as 480p. In any case, it's absolutely still watchable - and the audio quality is still super clean and clear (which is probably more important anyways).
