Press Contact: Rico Robinson, ricosuavestreetz@gmail.com "Call 2 Action on Behalf of the Transgender Community" Washington, DC August 16 2012—On Thursday August 16, from 11:30am-12:30pm, members from the transgender community, advocates and supporters will protest outside of DC Mayor Gray's office to take a stand against the horrible living conditions and discrimination the transgender community face. Although DC has a gender-expression non-discrimination act, the transgender community still experience barriers when accessing housing, job placement, drug & violence reduction programs and more. These issues will be publicly addressed and need to be changed for the better. "We need funding, we don't currently have enough housing to support members of the transgender community, and terrible things are happening to them on the streets because they have no where to go," says Director Brian Watson, of Transgender Health Empowerment This demonstration will illuminate the challenges and discrimination the transgender community faces and call on Mayor Gray to better support the transgender community! Please come out and support us! The transgender community has the right to feel safe and exercise the same rights as everyone else! Let's stand up!
